Working Principle
- Blank preparation: The metal billets are cut and heated according to the specifications of the desired forgings (if it is a hot forging process). The purpose of heating is to make the metal material reach the temperature suitable for forging, in order to improve its plasticity and reduce deformation resistance.
- Place blank: Place the prepared blank on the lower mold. The table of the flat forging machine is usually equipped with a fixed device to ensure that the blank does not shift during forging.
- Closing mold: Start the flat forging machine, the machine through the hydraulic, mechanical or electric system to drive the upper mold down, and close the lower mold. At this time, the blank is clamped between the upper and lower molds.
- Apply pressure: The flat forging machine applies high pressure to cause plastic deformation of the blank between the dies. The way the pressure is applied varies according to the type of equipment, the hydraulic flat forging machine applies the pressure through the hydraulic cylinder, the mechanical flat forging machine applies the pressure through the mechanical transmission system, and the electric flat forging machine applies the pressure through the electric motor.
- Plastic deformation: Under high pressure, the billet metal flows and fills the mold cavity, gradually forming the desired shape and size. Key parameters in this process include pressure, temperature and deformation speed, which require precise control to ensure forging quality.
- Open mold pick up: After the pressure is completed, the upper die is lifted and the forging is removed from the die. At this time, cooling and subsequent treatment, such as cleaning, dressing and heat treatment, are required to achieve the final product requirements.
